You walk past the street, wind in your hair, smile on your lips. One hand is tucked in your coat. The other clutches a small bag slung over your shoulder.
The crowd is bustling, and you manoeuvre yourself through with a practised ease.
It’s just another day.
Mundane. Normal.
And then, you see me, walking just past you.
If you asked, I would tell you I’ve never met you before.
You’d agree.
I don’t know your name and you don’t know mine.
But nevertheless, you see me, really see me.
So maybe I smile.
Maybe you do.
Maybe you raise up a hand in greeting, a small wave.
Maybe I nod in response.
Maybe our shoulders brush as we cross paths, shuffling through.
Our shadows align under the morning sun. Whole.
Your eyes catch mine, and lock, just for a second. Linger. I look away.
And then, we’re both gone, just as quickly as we appeared.
It was just another day.
Mundane. Normal.
I didn’t know you and you didn’t know me.
We were two ships passing in the night, on different paths in the same waters.
But in that fraction of a second, we were as close as two people could ever be.
This moment; where one soul dips near another, like stars once a year brush the Earth.
Our hearts pulsed to the same beat, and our blood sang the same tune.
Resonant.
We were in resonance.
The moment is gone as quickly as it came.
But in all the years that’ll come to pass, you can’t help but believe.
You will never truly be alone.

So evocative – of all those moments that might have become something else entirely. Well done – Oh, and thanks for liking my very mundane memoir piece! (and for showing me the proper spelling for ‘manoeuvre’). hmm. . . WP still puts a wiggly red line under it!

Mmm I’ve noticed, but I find that Grammarly is so much more reliable than WordPress for spell-check, and a lot easier to work with too.
And it was my pleasure ❤

Wonderful! Thanks for stopping by my site. Just enjoyed several of your poems. I don’t know you and you don’t know me and yet I hear my thoughts in your poems. I always find it amazing when I read something and can say “Yeah that, thats what I’m thinking, thats what I feel like…” Thank you for sharing your gift. All the best.

I love this! It resonates with me as someone who is admiring someone from afar. I cannot even make eye contact with him without getting nervous. Lol. Brilliantly written.

Oh, Natalie dear… that’s called, pretending. You love the person very-very much but pretends like you don’t have any feeling to the person at all. You resonance in your own loneliness while hoping the person you love so much is right in front you, every single second. How you wish that. How you wish.

No problem!! The reason I’m even on WordPress is because of what happened on Tumblr. My original blog is still there thankfully but alot of my favorite people lost their blogs and in the rush to get people’s contacts, I realized just how much they mean to me and that I should try to interact more. Thanks ^_^

We usually realise resonance long after it is gone, but the highs resonate within us for long after. It is funny how dictionary defines mundane, and how life does, they hardly mean the same. These moments of connection, are what makes me wonder how something could be enjoyed to the fullest with no expectation for making them last forever.
