The Writer

Shreya Vikram is a writer who prides herself on her ability to blur the lines between poetry and prose, intensity and elegance.

She aims to create beautiful literature with an underlying theme of ‘never lying, nothing true’: taking inspiration from her own life and morphing it into fiction.

She hopes that in the process, you’ll find something that speaks to you.

    1. Thank you so much! That really means a lot ❤
And I just wanted to point out that the link you've given WordPress in your profile as your site address isn't right?
You've said: belladonnax60.wordpress.com but the actual link, I think, is https://inspiredwriter.blog/
I'm just unable to access your site from your profile so I just wanted to let you know…

Haha, well, I think I'm clinging just a tad too much to my anonymity at the moment to step out of the shadows… there is some comfort in knowing that whatever your write isn't going to be directly reflected on you and I honestly don't think I'm personally ready yet.
And I just wanted to point out: the link you've given WordPress in your profile as your site address doesn't exist anymore? Was that intentional?

    1. Ah, I’ve got this question before, and I honestly don’t get why so many people think my account has been suspended (maybe you could clarify?)… you can still find me at https://twitter.com/Midnight_Embers though I’m not very active on Twitter save for the regular blog update.

When I go to share any of your blog posts on Twitter with the button on your site, I get the following message:

“The profile you’re trying to view has been suspended. Why not try a search to find something else?”

You might check the sharing options in WordPress to make sure it’s set up with the correct Twitter @account.

I don’t have issues with other blogs.

    Good luck.

However, I’m afraid I won’t be able to put up an acceptance post as I’m trying to keep the site an award-free zone.
I truly appreciate the gesture. Thank you so much, again. It really means a lot ❤

I love what you say about prose and poetry converging. It’s something I was trained out of a bit by being told my words were too flowery. I’ve ended up separating them but sometimes they creep back together, especially in free-form verse or descriptive writing. You’re creating or re-forming an artform with exceptional eloquence and it makes me want to dive into the form.

    1. Mmm I can definitely relate to that. I used to draw a line between an indulgence in purple prose and something more suitable to today’s writing. But I find that florid language is my strongest link, so I try to blend it in whenever I can.
I hope you find a middle-ground for yourself as well. ❤

Thanks, I now find different forms each open different doors, shifting my perspective. You’ve helped re-open one door whose hinges had become somewhat rusty. Keep creating. As for purple prose – purple is a lovely colour! 🙂

Dear Shreya, Why did you choose Natalie Swift as your pen name? Did the book “Tom Swift and his Electric Pen” have anything to do with your choice of a pen name?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Mmm no, I haven’t read it. Is it something you would recommend?
It was a completely impetuous decision, to be honest. WordPress asked for my name, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be associated with my site yet, so I typed in the first thing I thought of. I can’t even remember where I saw it.
